Well, why start a Royal Arch Website is perhaps the first question. In this first blog post of the Royal Arch in Mandurah website let’s look at why we have created the website and what we hope to achieve with our blog.
The sun is rising on a new day for Royal Arch Masonry in Mandurah
As the website and blog creator and editor for Mandurah Lodge (www.mandurahfreemasons.org), and as one of the new crop of Fourth Step Free Mark Master Masons that continued quickly onto the Excellent Degree and the Royal Arch Degree, I was approached by V Em Comp Laurie McCarthy (also a member of Mandurah Lodge) to create a website proposal. Given free reign over the initial design and content, the design was established in three parts, an introduction and “tease” to the various degrees of Royal Arch Masonry and their underlying stories, details pertinent to any visitor or prospective member of Peel Royal Arch Chapter, and details pertinent to any visitor or prospective member of De Grey Royal Arch Chapter.
The fundamental premise for the design of the Royal Arch in Mandurah website, as it is for the Mandurah Lodge website, is putting forward as much information as is permissible so that a prospective member can make a fully informed decision prior to making contact with a Royal Arch Mason in his Lodge or to Scribe Ezra. The principle is that a brother that has an initial interest can research the overview of the further journey he may take and what it will cost him in time and money. If either of these are restrictions to his current circumstances he can, without embarrassment, hold off until the time and circumstances are right for his fourth step, or indeed his sixth step if he has taken up the offer of Fourth Step Free. So, the website structure is focussed on the institutional structure of Royal Arch Masonry in general and Peel Royal Arch Chapter and De Grey Royal Arch Chapter in particular.
The blog
Where the detail of the website is the “what we are” the blog post tells visitors and prospective members “who we are and what we do”. It is the unfolding story of our Chapters, the expression of our deeper thoughts and questions of Royal Arch Masonry, and the celebration of Freemasonry as a broad intra- and inter-related system of education.
The blog posts that are to follow in the coming weeks, months and years will share the voices of the Companions and Brothers of Royal Arch in Mandurah and I encourage each and every one of those Companions and Brothers to put pen and picture to paper (well, keyboard and picture to word document) and share their story, perspective and questions with all those interested in Royal Arch Masonry.
Sincerely and Fraternally
Comp. Craig Butler
Peel Royal Arch Chapter No 54
